REGULATIONS
REGULATIONS
GRAN FONDO INTERNACIONAL LA NUCÍA
October 19, 2025
Article 1.1.- Regulations.
The Gran Fondo Internacional La Nucía is a cycling tour regulated under the “Cycling for All Regulations” of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC), specifically under Article 9, which defines this sport as a physical exercise with leisure, tourist, or cultural purposes, excluding competition. The event will be governed by the General Directorate of Traffic regulations in force at the time. For any matters not covered in these Regulations, the RFEC’s current rules will apply.
The cycling tour will be held on roads closed to traffic for non-participants, and riders will enjoy exclusive use of the route within the space between the authority agents carrying the red and green flags, riding without invading the opposite lane. Sections of ordinary traffic will remain open to general vehicles. Participants must at all times obey the instructions of the Guardia Civil Traffic Division officers.
Article 1.2.- Route and Schedule.
The Gran Fondo La Nucía will be held on October 19, 2025, covering an official distance of 132 km with a positive elevation gain of 2,275 m.
The start and finish line will be at the Camilo Cano Olympic Stadium in La Nucía (Camino de la Serreta, 03530 La Nucía, Alicante).
Checkpoint and cut-off time:
At km 56 (Benilloba), there will be a checkpoint where participants who have not reached this point within the maximum time set by the security device will have their bib numbers removed.
In such cases, the participant must continue towards the finish line via the official route or by the CV-70, either individually or in small groups not exceeding 10 cyclists, always in the order of arrival, in order to avoid forming pelotons. The bib number will be removed from the bicycle’s handlebar and must be carried in the jersey pocket until the end of the ride.
Participants continuing outside the official convoy will do so under their sole responsibility, in open traffic, and must always comply with the current traffic regulations.
Note: Cyclists choosing to continue via the CV-70 must still complete a total of 36 km to reach the finish line.
To be included in the official results and to receive the finisher medal, all participants must complete the established distance within the maximum times set by the organization.
Nevertheless, participants who, although outside the official convoy, reach the finish line before 16:30 will also be entitled to receive the finisher medal.
Participation is open to all cyclists aged 18 or older on the day of the event. Exceptionally, minors (aged 15 to 17 on the event date) may participate provided they present a signed authorization from a parent or legal guardian (according to the official model), along with a photocopy of the signatory’s ID card.
START: The start will take place at 8:30 a.m.
See route map. The schedule will be subject to current regulations at the time and will be communicated to participants in advance through the official website.
VERY IMPORTANT:
• All participants must remain within the designated convoy, i.e., between the Guardia Civil Traffic Division agents marking the beginning and end of the closed section. The red flag marks the start and the green flag marks the end.
• No participant may pass the red flag.
• Participants unable to maintain the pace and overtaken by the green flag will be out of the event and must reduce speed, riding with caution, without obstructing other road users, and always complying with traffic laws and road signs.
Notice to all participants:
• This is not a race.
• Ride on the right-hand side, never invading the opposite lane.
• The route mostly runs on secondary roads without shoulders; extreme caution is required.
• Mountain passes include long descents with some dangerous curves; caution is essential.
• The route will be signposted by the organization.
• Do not litter; use bins located at feed zones. Carry waste in your pocket until reaching a feed zone or the finish line. Care for and respect nature. Sierra Calderona Natural Park is everyone’s heritage.
• Participants outside the official convoy must remember they are riding in open traffic and must comply with all traffic laws as regular road users.
• At all times, participants must respect the instructions of the Guardia Civil Traffic Division.
Article 2.- Permitted changes and deadlines:
• Jersey size: Until 30/06/2025
