The UCI GRAN FONDO WORLD SERIES LA NUCIA offers an alternative 71 km route to the 132 km route, starting in Gorga and finishing at the Camilo Cano Olympic Stadium in La Nucía.

All participants will compete in the 132 km distance, except:

Men aged 60 and over

Women aged 50 and over

These groups will compete directly in the 71 km category.

Important:

Participants registered in the UCI Category (GFWS Qualifier) will be required to follow the route corresponding to their age group and gender.

OPEN CATEGORY

In this category, participants can freely choose their distance: 132 km or 71.390 km.

Age does not affect the choice of route.

Important:

Participants in the OPEN Category are not eligible to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

71 km route: Where and what time will the start from Gorga take place?

The start will take place from the roundabout at the entrance to Gorga, on the CV-754, 03811 Gorga (Alicante), Spain. The start time will be 11:00 a.m.

A transfer service from La Nucía to Gorga will be available after the race, allowing you to collect your vehicle at the starting point.

The provisional departure times are 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

A transfer service from La Nucía will be available, as well as a van for transporting bicycles before the race starts.

To use either of these services, you must reserve your place in advance. The departure from La Nucía will be no later than 8:30 a.m.

Remember to book your place in advance to guarantee the service.

No. If you are registered in the UCI GFWS Category, you cannot freely choose the 71 km route. The distance is automatically assigned according to your age and gender:

  • Men aged 60 and over: 71 km
  • Women aged 50 and over: 71 km
  • All other UCI participants: 132 km

This assignment is definitive and determines your eligibility for the UCI classification.

In the UCI Category, the 71 km route is assigned to men aged 60 and over and women aged 50 and over.

In the Open Category, each participant can choose their preferred distance during registration.

At the Camilo Cano Olympic Stadium in La Nucía, the same finish point as the long route.

Yes, if you are participating in the UCI GFWS Category and your age/gender group is assigned to this distance. The highest-ranked participants may qualify for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

At the merge point, the 71 km participants will join the 132 km peloton in a controlled and safe manner. To facilitate the merge, both groups will initially ride in separate lanes before joining together.

In La Nucía, you must compete in the age group corresponding to your age in 2026, based on the age you will be on December 31 of this year.

If you qualify for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships and move to a different age group the following year, your qualification will automatically be transferred to the corresponding category for 2027.
